Robert Partin is the founding member of the Abilene Pipers. He, along with Iain Morrison, Grant Rice and Daniel Fryar started the group in February of 2001.Iain and Grant were transferred out of Abilene by the USAF. Daniel graduated from ACU and now works and lives in Englewood, Colorado. Robert is a piano tuner and piano teacher in Abilene. He was inspired to play the bagpipes after seeing E. J. Jones perform with the group Clandestine at the Kerrville Folk Festival. Robert has played at local weddings, funerals, Burns Suppers, Abilene Art Walk, Erinshire Folk Festival,Elmwood Memorial Park's Memorial Day Services, church services, Abilene Women's Club, Vietnam Wall Experience in September of 2003, The Texas Fallen Police Officers Memorial Services, the 2006 Sayles Neighborhood Association Party and the Blues N Rock Gazette Readers Choice Award Shows. Robert plays pipes built by Texas Pipemaker, Ray Hughes. |
